MY FEELINGS FOR OZEE'S 'NO FREE SHOW' REPLY BY EMPEE
About No free Show!
I've been a bit quiet on this subject matter but I had to speak out to clear the waves regarding some kinda comments.
Firstly, I did a reply to a song "No free show" and I sounded basically like the upcoming artiste I'm. I spoke about support, and I definitely don't need a dictionary to define "support" in this context. What's the gain if I'm an artist or promoter and I invite a fellow artist to my show and he wants me to pay him in cash directly before coming? I mean, there are so many ways I could pay my fellow artist other than cash, that's where the "scratch my back I scratch ur back" in my reply came from, the pidgin experts will say, "na left hand dey wash right hand". I'm not sure AY pays all the comedians that come on AY Live show cos definitely he debuts in their show! But it doesnt mean he wont take care of their logistics and that's what support is!
In as much as I preach "support" I don't support the "mal welfare" of upcoming artists in shows, that's why I talked about coming to "ur show" with my pistol. Every celebrity today has a story about rocking the streets and attending free shows and until you're eligible to attract fans that worth your prize tag, no show promoter will want you in their show. Nobody wants to loose and that's why its called Showbiz(Show business), even though you loose some to gain some.
Finally, my plea to upcoming artists is that, we shouldn't be in a hurry to make money in music, its a long term investment, build ur brand and promote it, make it famous and trust me, you don't need to shout it that you won't attend free shows, show organizers will not even be stupid enough to invite you for a free show.
